Inflamed Gums? What You Should Know About Gum Disease
Do you have inflamed gums? What should you do?
I know that most people do not like to go for their regularly scheduled dental visits, but by not doing so they set themselves up for further pain down the road. I will tell you straight up that this is true for most people but their are alternative theories out there. I know a dentist who does not believe in getting her teeth cleaned and has not done so for over twenty years.
However, she has a whole different way of going about things that is beyond most people. You should not try going without professional help or you are likely to get into trouble. She is an expert. You are not. You do need someone to look at your gums and teeth to see what is going on.
If your gums are inflamed, there could be a few different causes. However, there is a good chance that you are facing gum disease or gingivitis. With inflamed gums, you may very well experience discomfort.
You should go visit a periodontist if at all possible. Periodontist are dentists who have additional training and focus on gum tissue health and disease. I can tell you from personal experience that I received better treatment and diagnosis from a periodontist rather than the regular dentist.
In fact, I consider my old dentist to be so inept that I will never go see her again. I don’t intend to be mean spirited about it, that is just the way it is. There is no need to stay with a professional that you do not trust or respect. Once trust is broken, the relationship is over in my book.
If your gums are inflamed, make an appointment with your periodontist. If you cannot get in right away there are a few things that can help to relieve symptoms. Essential oils, such as oil of oregano seems to have produced good results for a number of people. However, don’t do this unless instructed to do so by a licensed physician.
